Advanced AI will shape India’s future.India should help shape advanced AI.

India AI Safety Network is an open research community for anyone who thinks seriously about advanced AI, from machine learning and security to law, economics and public policy.

A centrifugal governor keeps a powerful engine from running away.

From understanding the problem to informing the people who decide.

  • Policy

Clear, independent analysis for the people making decisions about AI in India: government, regulators, companies and civil society.

    How we work

The questions advanced AI raises are technical, legal, economic and political. The people working on them should be too.

We want machine learning researchers and engineers alongside lawyers, economists, civil servants, philosophers, writers and students who are just getting curious.

You don’t need a background in AI to take part. You need to take the questions seriously.

How we plan to get from first conversations to better decisions.

  1. Gather

Bring together people from every field who care about how advanced AI goes.

  2. Learn

Reading groups and workshops that build real understanding of the problem.

  3. Research

Mentored projects that produce work researchers and policymakers can use.

  4. Advise

Put clear, independent analysis in front of the people who decide.

New to AI safety? Start with the reading list.

It starts with what AI alignment means and works up to current research on training, oversight and the insides of language models. You can begin with no background: the maths and machine learning the later papers need are listed with it. Tell us a little about yourself and we’ll send it to you, with an invite to the community.
